Harrah is a growing suburb located in Oklahoma County, Oklahoma and is part of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 4,719.
Harrah is the mix of a small town neighborhood with big city convenience. It is located just 25 miles east of downtown Oklahoma City, 15 minutes northeast of Tinker Air Force Base and roughly 25 minutes from major metropolitan shopping and the big city attractions. Also, within a 30 minute drive in any direction, Harrah residents can enjoy the outdoor opportunities at several recreational lakes including boating, skiing, camping, picnicking and fishing.
Most of the terrain is gently rolling with an abundance of trees and open spaces for experiencing beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Even the country's national symbol, the Bald Eagle, makes Harrah its home. The North Canadian River Valley in Harrah is a natural habitat and winter nesting site.
The Harrah School system has long been recognized as one of the best in the state. The curriculum builds from kindergarten through high school to include special classes in gifted/talented and special education. Harrah students consistently score in the upper rankings for state and national achievement scores. Harrah excels in the percentage of its students that advance to higher education.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 30.7 km² (11.9 mi²). 30.7 km² (11.9 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 4,719 people, 1,736 households, and 1,331 families residing in the city. The population density is 153.6/km² (397.9/mi²). There are 1,859 housing units at an average density of 60.5/km² (156.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 87.92% White, 0.68% African American, 6.27% Native American, 0.25% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 0.34% from other races, and 4.47% from two or more races. 2.48% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,736 households out of which 38.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.1% are married couples living together, 11.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.3% are non-families. 21.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.67 and the average family size is 3.09.
In the city the population is spread out with 28.3% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 29.6% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 88.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 85.1 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $40,330, and the median income for a family is $47,712. Males have a median income of $35,625 versus $24,487 for females. The per capita income for the city is $17,708. 7.0% of the population and 5.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 7.5% of those under the age of 18 and 12.7% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
