Hanga Roa is the capital city of Easter Island, Chile, and is located in the southwest of the island. The population is 3 304 (2002 census), which is more than 87 percent of the population of the whole island. The main avenue, Avenida Policarpo Toro, is the heart of the town and many stores, hotels, restaurants, and the island's only supermarket and pharmacy are found alongside this road.
