There are many different hand games, which all of course are played with the hands. Games include Rock, Paper, Scissors, Odd or Even, Thumb Wrestling. They can be played as one player or two player games.
Hand games of Native American
Hand game is an ancient native american game that originated with the Northern Paiute and Western Shoshone Indian Tribes of the Great Basin. Hand game is a game that requires two teams to sit opposite one another and compete for either traded goods or cash, early historical documentation states that games were even played for land use and female companions and later on for horses and cattle. Hand game is played during traditional gatherings and contemporarily during pow wows and tribal celebrations. The object of the game is for one side or team to win all 10 point sticks, other more recent versions of handgame played by tribes in the northwest mistakenly added a 11th stick or what is called a kickstick, this was erronously interpeted when wovoka (a paiute medicine man) traveled to the northwest to teach the ghost dance and also taught tribes the newly introduced hand game or stick game as the northwest tribes refer to it as. Hand game bones and point sticks have been identified in ancient anthropolical digs and the hand game continues to spread amongst native american tribes and since the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act it has been classified by the US Government as Class I Gaming and regulated solely by the tribe itself.
