Gunnar Esiason

Gunnar Esiason (born 1991) is the son of American football legend Boomer Esiason. He has cystic fibrosis, a disease of the lungs and digestive system. He became well-known nationally when he appeared with his father on the October 4, 1993 cover of Sports Illustrated magazine. In the related story, the Esiason family shared with readers the many daily difficulties that the disease caused them.
As of 2004, Gunnar participates in lacrosse, soccer, baseball, and ice hockey at his school in Long Island, New York, although he still undergoes treatment twice a day for his illness, and takes enzyme tablets with meals to assist in food digestion.
