Granite is a census-designated place located in Salt Lake County, Utah located to the east of Sandy. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 2,018, a significant decrease from the 1990 population of 3,300.
Geography
Granite is located at 40°34'16" North, 111°48'34" West (40.571151, -111.809535)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.8 km² (1.5 mi²). 3.8 km² (1.5 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,018 people, 609 households, and 537 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 530.0/km² (1,374.0/mi²). There are 642 housing units at an average density of 168.6/km² (437.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 95.29% White, 0.59% African American, 0.30% Native American, 1.59% Asian, 0.35% Pacific Islander, 0.64% from other races, and 1.24% from two or more races. 1.83% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
