Gottfried Münzenberg (born 1940) is a German physicist. Working at the GSI in Darmstadt, Germany since 1976, he played a leading role in the discovery of the elements meitnerium and hassium. He is currently the head of the Nuclear Structure and Nuclear Chemistry department of the GSI.
