Goodyear is a city located in Maricopa County, Arizona. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 18,911, compared to 3,137 people in 1980.

The city is known in Pima as Valin Dak.

Goodyear is located at 33°23'23" North, 112°23'56" West (33.389655, -112.398977)Template:GR. Nearby cities include Avondale and Litchfield Park.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 301.6 km² (116.5 mi²). 301.6 km² (116.5 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of 2000, there are 18,911 people, 6,179 households, and 4,986 families residing in the city. The population density is 62.7/km² (162.4/mi²). There are 6,771 housing units at an average density of 22.4/km² (58.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 78.13% White, 5.20% Black or African American, 1.06% Native American, 1.71% Asian, 0.08% Pacific Islander, 10.87% from other races, and 2.95% from two or more races. 20.80% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 6,179 households out of which 32.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.1% are married couples living together, 6.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 19.3% are non-families. 14.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.68 and the average family size is 2.94.

In the city the population is spread out with 22.2% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 34.1% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 103.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 102.5 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $57,492, and the median income for a family is $60,707. Males have a median income of $40,702 versus $28,410 for females. The per capita income for the city is $22,506. 6.1% of the population and 3.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 8.7% of those under the age of 18 and 3.7% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
