Global Independent Baptist Fellowship
|
The Global Independent Baptist Fellowship is a recently formed independent Baptist fellowship arising from doctrinal disputes within the Baptist Bible Fellowship International. For a while it was known informally as the Heartland Baptist Fellowship Pastors and churches withdrawing from BBFI objected to perceived modernism relating to the Bible, music, worship styles, eccelesiology and other issues. According to their Purpose Statement, the GIBF desires:
- "1. To encourage the establishment of New Testament Baptist Churches;
- 2. To encourage pastors and missionaries by unifying around a common doctrinal belief;
- 3. To encourage Global evangelism by networking our churches, resources and personnel;
- 4. To encourage the training of Christian leaders for the fulfillment of the Great Commission; and
- 5. To encourage the perpetuity of Historic Baptist Distinctives."
In addition to the missionary and evangelistic work of the churches, GIBF publishes a quarterly, Baptist Times and supports the Heartland Baptist Bible College.
