Givat Halfon Eina Ona

Givat Halfon Eina Ona גבעת חלפון אינה עונה is a classic comedy film produced in 1976 in Israel. This is a good-hearted satire movie on the Israeli Defence Forces which tells the story of a weird reserves company, watching the Egyptian border. Characters such as the Romanian combinator Sergio Constanza, the Egyptian-born Mr Hason and the huge cook Yusifon became classics.

The film was directed by Assi Dayan and features members of the Gashash HaChiver: Shaike Levi, Yisrael Poliakov and Gavri Banai.

Cast

  • Jinji (Gavri Banai) - an IDF officer in Sinay, in love with Mr Hason's young daughter Yaeli.
  • Sergio Constanza (Israeli Poliakov) - a petty crook, owes Mr Hason thousands of dollars. Sergio decides to run away for reserve duty after he gets into troubles with Hason and other gamblers in Tel Aviv. Sergio is a charming funny crook, cunning and manipulative.
  • Victor Hason (Shaike Levi) - a wealthy Jew, born in Egypt and immigrated to Israel. Hason lives in Tel Aviv with two daughters and is determined to get the older daughter married. He pursues Sergio into the Sinai because of a large debt. The scene where Hason lifts Sergio's field-toilet cabin with a loader-bulldozer became a classic.
  • Yaeli Hason (Nitza Shaul) - Mr Hason's beautiful young daughter and Jinji's beloved. They want to get married but Hason conditions it on finding a groom for his older daughter. Following Hason's refusal, Yaeli sneaks into Jinji's jeep and finds herself in the Sinai base.
  • Shifra Hason (Miki Kam) - Hason's older daughter.
  • Yusifon (Moshe Ish Kasit) - the cook in the Sinai base.
  • Shamgar (Tuvya Tzafir) - the horny commander of the Sinai post.
