"Gimme Shelter" is a song by The Rolling Stones, written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards. Rolling Stone named it the Number 38 greatest song of all time in 2004 in its "500 Greatest Songs of All Time." An unreleased version features only Richards providing vocals.

Gimme Shelter is also the name of a documentary film directed by Albert Maysles and David Maysles, chronicling the Rolling Stones' 1969 U.S. tour, culminating in the disastrous concert at Altamont in which the Hells Angels provided security and a gun-toting fan was stabbed to death by a member of the Angels on film.
Trivia
A young George Lucas, later the director and producer of the Star Wars series, was a member of the film crew. It has been suggested that Lucas was operating the camera that filmed the stabbing, although he has reportedly denied this.
