Genoa is a city located in DeKalb County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 4,169.

Geography
Genoa is located at 42°5'44" North, 88°41'40" West (42.095637, -88.694544)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 4.9 km² (1.9 mi²). 4.9 km² (1.9 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 4,169 people, 1,555 households, and 1,119 families residing in the city. The population density is 842.8/km² (2,178.8/mi²). There are 1,597 housing units at an average density of 322.8/km² (834.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 95.27% White, 0.14% African American, 0.19% Native American, 0.29% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 3.14% from other races, and 0.94% from two or more races. 10.65% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 1,555 households out of which 41.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.6% are married couples living together, 10.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.0% are non-families. 24.3% of all households are made up of individuals and 9.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.68 and the average family size is 3.21.
In the city the population is spread out with 30.6% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 36.0% from 25 to 44, 16.1% from 45 to 64, and 9.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 97.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.2 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $48,125, and the median income for a family is $53,523. Males have a median income of $42,054 versus $28,060 for females. The per capita income for the city is $19,239. 3.3% of the population and 2.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 3.9% of those under the age of 18 and 8.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

The district has 3 Public Elementary schools: Davenport Elementary School (http://www.gkschools.org/des/) (Grades K-1) and Genoa Elementary School (http://www.gkschools.org/ges/) (Grades 4-5) located in Genoa and Kingston Elementary School (http://www.gkschools.org/kes/) (Grades 2-3) located in Kingston. In addition, Genoa is home to the Genoa-Kingston Middle School (http://www.gkschools.org/ms/) (Grades 6-8) and the Genoa-Kingston High School (http://www.gkschools.org/hs/) (Grades 9-12). The GK School District's team name is the Cogs, an acronym created from the phrase "Community of Genoa Schools" that also evokes a feeling of teamwork not unlike the cogs in a machine.
