Gatesville is a city located in Coryell County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 15,591. It is the county seat of Coryell CountyTemplate:GR.

The racial makeup of the city is 63.20% White, 27.00% African American, 0.34% Native American, 0.35% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 8.49% from other races, and 0.56% from two or more races. 14.73% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
