Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,775 people, 913 households, and 717 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 51.2/km² (132.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 46.49% White, 52.43% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.04% from other races, and 0.68% from two or more races. 0.72% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 913 households out of which 36.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.0% are married couples living together, 24.9% have a female householder with no husband present, and 21.4% are non-families. 17.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.03 and the average family size is 3.48.
