Garðabær is a municipality in the Greater Reykjavík area of Iceland. As of 2004, its population was 9,000.
History
Originally, when Iceland was settled in the 9th century, there were two farms on the present-day area of Garðabær. Their names were Vífilsstaðir and Skúlastaðir. Vífilsstaðir was named after Vífill, a one-time servant of Ingólfur Arnarson, the first settler of Iceland.
