Galvin railway station, Melbourne

Galvin railway station was located on the Werribee line of the Melbourne suburban rail system. It was located in Maidstone Rd., Altona, between Paisley and Laverton.
Paisley was opened on August 22, 1927. Though it was a public platform, it played a key role in servicing refineries in the area. When the system of public transport zones was formed in the early 1980s, Galvin formed the border between Zones 1 and 2 on the Werribee Line.
In 1985, a new extension between Westona and Laverton was built. This was as a result of the electrification of the Werribee line, but at the same time, the route of the line was changed to link Altona with Laverton. This was to try and make a more viable route, as both Galvin and the nearby station of Paisley were little-used. As a result, trains on the Werribee line were diverted through Westona and Altona, and Galvin, along with Paisley was bypassed and closed. The last trains stopped at the station on April 14, 1985.
After being closed down, the station and platforms were demolished.
