Fultonville, New York

Fultonville is a village located in Montgomery County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 710. The village is named after Robert Fulton, inventor of the steamboat.
The Village of Fultonville is on the south bank of the Mohawk River in the Town of Glen.

History
The village was founded in anticipation of the opening of the Erie Canal. Fultonville was incorporated in 1848.
Geography
The village is on the south bank of the Mohawk River with the Village of Fonda on the opposite shore, linked by a bridge. The New York State Thruway passes through the village.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.2 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 7.69% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 710 people, 279 households, and 191 families residing in the village. The population density is 571.1/km² (1,477.0/mi²). There are 309 housing units at an average density of 248.6/km² (642.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.03% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.70% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.14% from other races, and 1.13% from two or more races. 1.83% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 279 households out of which 33.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 44.4% are married couples living together, 17.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.2% are non-families. 25.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.50 and the average family size is 2.96.
In the village the population is spread out with 27.7% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 21.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.5% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 87.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 88.6 males.
The median income for a household in the village is $32,361, and the median income for a family is $34,167. Males have a median income of $30,500 versus $20,909 for females. The per capita income for the village is $15,283. 6.9% of the population and 3.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 3.3% of those under the age of 18 and 4.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
