Franz Waxman

Franz Waxman (December 24, 1906 - February 24, 1967), born Franz Wachsmann, was a German-American composer of music for films. In the early 1930s he wrote scores for several German films, but had arrived in America by 1935 after working briefly in France. He received 12 Academy Award nominations, winning in consecutive years for Sunset Boulevard and A Place in the Sun.
