Franklinville is a village located in Cattaraugus County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 1,855.
The Village of Franklinville was incorporated in 1874. It is in the northeast part of the Town of Franklinville.
The village is on Routes 16 and 98. Routes 17, 24, 46, and 69 also converge on the village.
Geography
Franklinville is located at 42°20'14" North, 78°27'26" West (42.337398, -78.457359)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 2.8 km² (1.1 mi²). None of the area is covered with water.
The village is located in the Ischua Valley, and Ischua Creek flows past the west side of the community.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,855 people, 696 households, and 505 families residing in the village. The population density is 669.4/km² (1,735.6/mi²). There are 756 housing units at an average density of 272.8/km² (707.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 98.60% White, 0.00% Black or African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.38% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. 0.65% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 696 households out of which 38.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% are married couples living together, 16.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.4% are non-families. 24.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.65 and the average family size is 3.08.
In the village the population is spread out with 30.7% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 26.0% from 25 to 44, 19.5% from 45 to 64, and 15.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 92.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 85.4 males.
The median income for a household in the village is $31,900, and the median income for a family is $36,711. Males have a median income of $27,093 versus $21,490 for females. The per capita income for the village is $13,600. 11.4% of the population and 7.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 14.3% of those under the age of 18 and 7.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
