Frances is a 1982 biographical motion picture telling the life story of actress Frances Farmer, which stars Jessica Lange in the title role, Kim Stanley as her mother and Sam Shepard as her fictional friend.
The movie was written by Eric Bergren, Christopher De Vore and Nicholas Kazan. It was directed by Graeme Clifford and produced by Jonathan Sanger and Mel Brooks for Universal Pictures.
It was nominated for Academy Awards for Best Actress in a Leading Role (Jessica Lange) and Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Kim Stanley).
