Forest View is a blue-collar village located in Cook County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 778. It's close to Chicago and has a large Slavic population. The village, however, is primarily industrial.
Al Capone is said to have lived there in the mid-1920's.
Geography
Forest View is located at 41°48'27" North, 87°47'10" West (41.807379, -87.786065)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.0 km² (1.2 mi²). 2.7 km² (1.0 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 11.11% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 778 people, 302 households, and 209 families residing in the village. The population density is 288.8/km² (749.9/mi²). There are 312 housing units at an average density of 115.8/km² (300.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 92.93% White, 0.39% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 4.76% from other races, and 1.93% from two or more races. 10.41% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 302 households out of which 24.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.3% are married couples living together, 10.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.5% are non-families. 27.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 16.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.58 and the average family size is 3.17.
In the village the population is spread out with 20.7% under the age of 18, 8.4% from 18 to 24, 26.3% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 20.7% who are 65 years of age or older.
