Findlay Township is a township located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 5,145.
The township is the home of Pittsburgh International Airport, which serves Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 84.4 km² (32.6 mi²). 84.4 km² (32.6 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 5,145 people, 2,028 households, and 1,460 families residing in the township. The population density is 61.0/km² (157.9/mi²). There are 2,128 housing units at an average density of 25.2/km² (65.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 96.17% White, 1.63% African American, 0.14% Native American, 1.11% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.08% from other races, and 0.87% from two or more races. 0.56% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,028 households out of which 35.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.6% are married couples living together, 9.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.0% are non-families. 23.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.53 and the average family size is 3.03.
In the township the population is spread out with 25.7% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 34.0% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 10.7% who are 65 years of age or older.
