Filer, Idaho

Filer (FĪ-ler) is a city located in Twin Falls County, Idaho. As of the 2000 census the city had a total population of 1,620. Filer is located just west of the intersection of U.S. Highway 93 and U.S. Highway 30. It hosts the Twin Falls County Fair and Rodeo every September.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.1 km² (0.8 mi²). 2.1 km² (0.8 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,620 people, 628 households, and 420 families residing in the city. The population density is 781.9/km² (2,028.7/mi²). There are 676 housing units at an average density of 326.3/km² (846.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 95.31% White, 0.31% African American, 1.36% Native American, 0.12% Asian, 0.12% Pacific Islander, 1.30% from other races, and 1.48% from two or more races. 5.74% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 628 households out of which 34.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 54.0% are married couples living together, 9.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 33.0% are non-families. 28.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 14.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.58 and the average family size is 3.19.
In the city the population is spread out with 29.0% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 19.4% from 45 to 64, and 15.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 97.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 95.6 males.
The median income for a household in the city is $31,336, and the median income for a family is $36,346. Males have a median income of $27,083 versus $20,563 for females. The per capita income for the city is $14,443. 13.7% of the population and 10.4% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 17.8% of those under the age of 18 and 13.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
