Fernando Morientes

Fernando Morientes Sánchez (born April 5 1976 in Cáceres) is a footballer who plays for Liverpool and Spain.
Morientes began his career with Albacete in 1993, before transferring to Real Zaragoza in 1995. He joined Real Madrid in the summer of 1997, and remained with the club until joining Liverpool in January 2005 for a fee of £6.3m, with the exception of spending a loan spell at AS Monaco in 2004. Morientes made his debut for Liverpool against rivals Manchester Utd. and scored his first Liverpool goal against Charlton Athletic F.C. on February 1, 2005 in a 2-1 win. He has also scored against Fulham F.C. and Portsmouth F.C. in the Premier League.
As of the end of 2004, Morientes has been capped 35 times, scoring 23 goals for Spain. He played for his country in the 1998 World Cup (scoring two goals), the 2002 World Cup (scoring three goals). After a shocking omission from Spain's Euro 2000 squad, he did play in Euro 2004.
