Faustus Cornelius Sulla Felix

Faustus Cornelius Sulla Felix ( 22 - 62 AD) was one of the lesser known figures of the Julio-Claudian dynasty of ancient Rome.
His grandmother was Antonia Major, the niece of Caesar Augustus by her husband Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus. His mother was Domitia Lepida, a great-niece of Augustus and grand-daughter to Mark Antony. His father was Faustus Cornelius Sulla, a descendant of the Roman Dictator Lucius Cornelius Sulla. He was also the half brother of the Roman Empress Valeria Messalina. In his descent, he was of the highest birth.
In 47, his cousin the Emperor Claudius had arranged him to marry the Emperor's daughter Claudia Antonia. The marriage resulted in a son, reportedly a weak child of little strength who died before his second birthday. His son's first birthday was celebrated privately.
Faustus Sulla was consul in 52.
In 58, a former imperial palace slave, falsely accused Sulla of plotting to attack Nero. Nero treated Sulla as if he was proven gulity. Sulla was exiled and confined to Massilia (modern Marseille, France).
The palace guardsman Tigellinus, had sent assassins to murder Sulla. Sulla was murdered at dinner five days later in 62, from the time that Tigellinus gave his orders. Nero had disliked, distrusted and dreaded his cousin Sulla.
Sulla's head was transported to the palace. At times, Nero would tease Sulla's head, due to his boldness and greyness to his hair.
Tacitus described Sulla's character as "timid and despicable" and also stated that Sulla was incapable to attempt to plot against Nero.pl:Faustus Korneliusz Sulla Feliks
