Faster Pussycat
|
Faster Pussycat was a Los Angeles hair metal band formed in the 1980s and named for the 1965 film Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!. Their first album, a self titled piece, was released in 1987. The band hit their high point in 1989 with their album, Wake Me When it's Over and its hit ballad, "House of Pain" and went gold. When grunge took over popularity in 1991, Faster Pussycat fell off the map as the genre of hair-metal quickly went out of style, though they did release the album Whipped!.
Tracii Guns was briefly a touring guitarist for Faster Pussycat. Lead singer for Faster Pussycat was/is Taime Downs. Taime's other claim to fame was as co-owner (with Riki Rachtman – later host of MTV's Headbanger's Ball) of The Cathouse, a popular heavy-metal themed night club in Los Angeles. Faster Pussycat's lead guitarist was Brent Muscat, brother of Todd Muscat (who was bass player in a number of influential Los Angeles based bands including Decry, Kill For Thrills and Junkyard). Brent Muscat has also played as a touring guitarist for L.A. Guns.
Taime Downs is currently member of his new band Newlydeads. Taime Downs sang backing vocals on Skid Row's cover of the Ramones's "Psycho Therapy".
