Falkner is a town located in Tippah County, Mississippi. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 212. The town was named for William Clark Falkner, one of whose descendants was author William Faulkner.
Geography
Falkner is located at 34°50'37" North, 88°56'0" West (34.843638, -88.933358)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.7 km² (1.1 mi²). 2.7 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 212 people, 85 households, and 62 families residing in the town. The population density is 77.2/km² (199.1/mi²). There are 90 housing units at an average density of 32.8/km² (84.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.64% White, 0.94% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.94% from other races, and 0.47% from two or more races. 2.83% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 85 households out of which 31.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 61.2% are married couples living together, 9.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.9% are non-families. 23.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.47 and the average family size is 2.92.
In the town the population is spread out with 22.6% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 23.1% from 25 to 44, 25.0% from 45 to 64, and 19.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 42 years. For every 100 females there are 114.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 105.0 males.
