Fabius is a town located in Onondaga County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,974.

History
The town was formed in 1798. The region was part of the Central New York Military Tract used to pay soldiers of the American Revolution.
Geography
The south town line is the border of Cortland County, New York and the east town line is the border of Madison County, New York.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 121.2 km² (46.8 mi²). 120.6 km² (46.6 mi²) of it is land and 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.51% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,974 people, 686 households, and 515 families residing in the town. The population density is 16.4/km² (42.4/mi²). There are 779 housing units at an average density of 6.5/km² (16.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 97.77% White, 0.46% Black or African American, 0.66% Native American, 0.25% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 0.05% from other races, and 0.71% from two or more races. 1.57% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 686 households out of which 40.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.2% are married couples living together, 7.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% are non-families. 18.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 6.7% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.87 and the average family size is 3.30.
In the town the population is spread out with 29.9% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 29.7% from 25 to 44, 25.2% from 45 to 64, and 8.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 97.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 99.6 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $52,663, and the median income for a family is $59,167. Males have a median income of $40,745 versus $28,036 for females. The per capita income for the town is $21,206. 5.7% of the population and 4.9% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 7.7% of those under the age of 18 and 5.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
