Fabian Pascal
|
Fabian Pascal is an advocate of the relational model of database management. He was born in Romania, now lives in the San Francisco, California area of the US, and works in association with Christopher J. Date.
Not content with the corruption of the relational model by DBMS vendors, Fabian has made it a personal crusade to debunk the myths which permeate the database industry as a whole. His often antagonistic and contrarian style often times lead to his views being discarded as the mere rants of a disillusioned industry flop but in reality are the 'lone voice in the wilderness' which must be heeded lest the entire industry collapse in disarray. Pascal maintains a web site for relational database information, at DBDebunk.com (http://dbdebunk.com/).
Quotes
- "A lot of what is being said, written, or done in the database management field--or whatever is left of it--by vendors, the trade press and "experts" is irrelevant, misleading, or outright wrong. While this is to a degree true of computing in general, in the database field the problems are so acute that, claims to the contrary notwithstanding, technology is actually regressing!"
