Ethiopic Ocean

The Ethiopic Ocean is an older name for what is now called the South Atlantic Ocean, which is separated from the North Atlantic by a narrow region between Natal, Brazil and Monrovia, Liberia. Use of term illustrates a past trend towards referring to the whole continent of Africa by the name Ethiopia as well, as Ethiopia proper is nowhere near the Ethiopic Ocean.
