Emperor Ninmyō (仁明天皇, Ninmyō-tennō) (810–850) was the 54th imperial ruler of Japan. He reigned from 833 to 850. His birth in name was Prince Masara (正良親王, Masara-shinnō). He was the second son of the Emperor Saga by the Empress Tachibana no Kachiko.
He ascended to the throne following the abduction of his uncle, the Emperor Junna. First he made a son of Junna the crown prince. Nine years later in 842 after a coup d'état the crown prince was replaced with Ninmyō's first son, Prince Michiyasu later the Emperor Montoku whose mother was the Empress Fujiwara no Junshi, a daughter of Fujiwara no Fuyutsugu. It is supposed there was a political intrigue planed by Ninmyō and Fujiwara no Yoshifusa, the second son of Fuyutsugu and uncle of the newer crown prince.
In 850 he abdicated in favor of the Crown Prince Michiyasu who is known as Montoku. The sucessor of Montoku was the third son of Ninmyō, Prince Tokiyasu.
