El Indio is a census-designated place located in Maverick County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 263.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.6 km² (1.8 mi²). 4.6 km² (1.8 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 263 people, 65 households, and 59 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 57.7/km² (149.3/mi²). There are 91 housing units at an average density of 20.0/km² (51.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 64.26% White, 0.00% African American, 1.90% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 28.14% from other races, and 5.70% from two or more races. 96.96% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
