EL or El may mean:
- Electroluminescence, an optical and electrical phenomenon where a material such as a natural blue diamond emits light when an electric current is passed through it.
- El (god), a Semitic word for 'god' and the name of a particular northwest Semitic father god who was head of many pantheons and identified with God in the Tanakh.
- El is a 1953 movie directed by Luis Buñuel
- "El" is used as the last name of Superman and related characters in the 'super family' of Kryptonian origin. Superman's name is Kal-El, with El being his last name. His father is Jor-El, and a host of other related characters in the DCU share simliar names. The name given to superman by the creators probably make reference to him being a god-like being.
- el is the language code for Greek
- An elevated railway passenger line, as in "take the el"
- "el" is Spanish for "the" and thus occurs in many place names and other names.
- "el" is Romanian for "he," as is él in Spanish (note the accent).
- "el" is a spelled out form of the letter L in English, and is often used in Scrabble.
- "ê" can be an elvish word meaning Star.
