Edwards is a town located in St. Lawrence County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,148. The village is named after Edward McCormack, a landowner.
The Town of Edwards contains a village also called Edwards. The town is in the southwest part of the county.

History
The town was formed in 1827 from a section of the Town of Fowler. During the War of 1812 there were no settlers in the town yet.
Geography
The Oswegatchie River flows through the town.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 133.0 km² (51.3 mi²). 131.4 km² (50.7 mi²) of it is land and 1.6 km² (0.6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.17% water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 1,148 people, 429 households, and 320 families residing in the town. The population density is 8.7/km² (22.6/mi²). There are 566 housing units at an average density of 4.3/km² (11.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 98.00% White, 0.44% Black or African American, 0.35% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.17% from other races, and 1.05% from two or more races. 0.87% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 429 households out of which 37.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.6% are married couples living together, 9.8% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.2% are non-families. 20.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.68 and the average family size is 3.07.
In the town the population is spread out with 29.4% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 92.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 92.4 males.
The median income for a household in the town is $31,705, and the median income for a family is $35,000. Males have a median income of $31,522 versus $18,864 for females. The per capita income for the town is $13,167. 19.3% of the population and 16.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 22.5% of those under the age of 18 and 8.7% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

- Edwards -- The Village of Edwards is in the northeast part of the town on Route 24.
- Pond Settlement -- A hamlet in the southeast part of the town on Route 23.
- South Edwards -- A hamlet in the southeast part of the town on Route 23.
- Talcville -- A hamlet in the northeast part of the town is named after the talc deposits found nearby. The community was orginally called Freemansville.
