East Lake is a census-designated place located in Pinellas County, Florida. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 29,394.
Geography
East Lake is located at 28°5'60" North, 82°41'50" West (28.099957, -82.697220)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 82.3 km² (31.8 mi²). 77.1 km² (29.8 mi²) of it is land and 5.1 km² (2.0 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 6.23% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 29,394 people, 11,854 households, and 8,914 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 381.1/km² (987.0/mi²). There are 13,339 housing units at an average density of 172.9/km² (447.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 94.87% White, 1.11% African American, 0.14% Native American, 2.31% Asian, 0.01% Pacific Islander, 0.58% from other races, and 0.98% from two or more races. 3.72% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 11,854 households out of which 31.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.1% are married couples living together, 6.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% are non-families. 20.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.48 and the average family size is 2.88.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 23.8% under the age of 18, 4.3% from 18 to 24, 26.2% from 25 to 44, 27.8% from 45 to 64, and 17.9% who are 65 years of age or older.
