The title of Baron Egerton of Tatton was created in the Peerage of the United Kingdom in 1859. The 2nd Baron was created Earl Egerton of Tatton wans Viscount Salford in 1897, but these titles became extinct upon his death in 1909. The Barony became extinct upon the death of the 4th Baron in 1958.
