Drones Club
|
The fictional Drones Club, located in Dover Street, London, (where a real club, the Arts Club, is based) was created by English comic novelist P. G. Wodehouse. It features in many of his Jeeves and Wooster and Blandings Castle stories.
A drone is a male bee or ant that does no work, living off the labor of others - which aptly describes the attitude toward labor held by most of the rich, idle young men who are members of the Drones Club.
Prominent Drones include:
- Bertie Wooster
- Gussie Fink-Nottle
- Barmy Fotheringay-Phipps (pronounced fungy-fipps)
- Freddie Widgeon
- Catsmeat Potter-Pirbright
- Pongo Twistleton
