Dragon Quest II: Aku Ryuu no Kamigami, known as Dragon Warrior II in North America, is the second installment of the popular Dragon Quest series, first released for the Famicom in Japan, or NES in the United States. Dragon Quest II was later released for the Super Famicom and Game Boy Color as Dragon Quest I & II.
Dragon Quest II is set 100 years after the original Dragon Quest. A century of peace is suddenly ended when the evil wizard Hargon destroys the country of Moonbrooke. Three descendents of the legendary Erdrick--the prince of Mindenhall, the prince of Cannock, and the princess of Moonbrooke--work together to defeat Hargon and restore peace.
Dragon Quest II is noted for greatly expanding upon the original game. Dragon Quest II is the first game in the series to feature multiple heroes and enemies in a battle, as well as a sailing ship. It was also the first to have weapons which cast spells when used in battles. In addition, Dragon Quest II offers a wider array of spells and items and a much larger world.
