Dennis Rogers

Dennis Rogers was a GP, and laterly the mayor of Hamilton, New Zealand from 1958-1972. He was elected for 3 terms. During his mayorship, he campaigned for the poor and for an international airport to built in Hamilton. He died of a heart attack in 1987.
He was well known for his like of gardening, and the Rogers Rose gardens in Hamilton are named after him.
Rogers' Brother, Anthony Rogers, was also a well known Hamiltonian polotical figure. Rogers was married to Helen Wyn-Hesse. They had 3 children.
