David Andrew McCarty (born November 23, 1969 in Houston, Texas) is a first baseman and outfielder in Major League Baseball. He has played with the Minnesota Twins (1993-95), San Francisco Giants (1995-96), Seattle Mariners (1998), Kansas City Royals (2000-02), Tampa Bay Devil Rays (2002), Oakland Athletics (2003) and Boston Red Sox (2003-05).
An utility player in the purest sense, McCarty is an excellent defensive first baseman who also can play at left field or right, and occasionally is called upon to pitch, especially in blow-out situations where it would be a waste to send an experienced relief pitcher into the game.
In a ten-year career, McCarty is a .242 hitter with 36 home runs and 173 RBI in 617 games.
