Darlington, Wisconsin

Darlington is a city located in Lafayette County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 2,418. The city is located within the Town of Darlington.
The town was recently featured in an episode of the A&E show "City Confidential." The episode focused on former Lafayette County Judge Daniel McDonald, who had murdered the assistant of the man who had unseated him after two terms as judge.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 3.4 km² (1.3 mi²). None of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 2,418 people, 985 households, and 639 families residing in the city. The population density is 712.7/km² (1,852.8/mi²). There are 1,052 housing units at an average density of 310.1/km² (806.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 99.13% White, 0.04% Black or African American, 0.04% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.17% Pacific Islander, 0.25% from other races, and 0.29% from two or more races. 1.12% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 985 households out of which 31.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.6% are married couples living together, 11.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.1% are non-families. 32.1% of all households are made up of individuals and 18.8% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.35 and the average family size is 2.96.
In the city the population is spread out with 25.4% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 24.8% from 25 to 44, 20.1% from 45 to 64, and 22.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 40 years. For every 100 females there are 86.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 82.5 males.
