D'arcy (born D'arcy Elizabeth Wretzky on May 1, 1968, South Haven, Michigan, USA) is an American rock musician and bassist. She was an original member of the highly successful alternative rock band The Smashing Pumpkins.
The band was founded in 1988 by Billy Corgan and James Iha. Corgan and Wretzky met at a local rock club when Corgan took exception to comments he heard her making about the band they saw that night. An argument and discussion followed, and Corgan, learning that Wretzky played bass guitar and impressed with her attitude, recruited her for the band's first shows and demos.
She was featured on the Smashing Pumpkins studio albums Gish, Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, and Adore. D'arcy left the band in 1999 prior to the release of their final album and farewell tour to pursue an acting career. Even though she left the band prior its release, she played bass on most tracks of their final studio album, MACHINA/The Machines of God.sv:D'Arcy Wretzky
