According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 38.5 km² (14.9 mi²). 38.2 km² (14.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.74% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 5,635 people, 2,033 households, and 1,608 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 147.4/km² (381.7/mi²). There are 2,136 housing units at an average density of 55.9/km² (144.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 91.41% White, 1.12% African American, 3.78% Native American, 1.26% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 1.10% from other races, and 1.30% from two or more races. 2.13% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,033 households out of which 39.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.0% are married couples living together, 8.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 20.9% are non-families. 18.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.76 and the average family size is 3.12.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 27.3% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 11.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 35 years. For every 100 females there are 96.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.1 males.
