Cummington is a town located in Hampshire County, Massachusetts. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 978.

History
Cummington was first settled in 1762 and was officially incorporated in 1779.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 59.7 km² (23.0 mi²). 59.7 km² (23.0 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 978 people, 382 households, and 239 families residing in the town. The population density is 16.4/km² (42.4/mi²). There are 452 housing units at an average density of 7.6/km² (19.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 96.42% White, 0.61% African American, 0.41% Native American, 0.31% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.51% from other races, and 1.74% from two or more races. 3.27% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
