According to the United States Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.2 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 6.12% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,411 people, 562 households, and 387 families residing in the community. The population density is 1,184.3/km² (3,091.1/mi²). There are 599 housing units at an average density of 502.8/km² (1,312.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the community is 96.39% White, 0.35% African American, 0.43% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.28% from other races, and 1.28% from two or more races. 2.34% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 562 households out of which 30.2% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.3% are married couples living together, 13.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 31.0% are non-families. 24.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.51 and the average family size is 2.99.
