Crater

The word crater may refer to
- A landform resembling a pit or depression in the topography that can be formed in several ways:
- a meteorite impact with another body can cause an impact crater,
- an electrical discharge such as lightning may form a crater-like pit,
- volcanic activity may form a volcanic crater or caldera,
- erosion may form a depression called a karst,
- a mine explosion or a bomb may form a crater.
- an underground explosion (usually nuclear) can form a subsidence crater
- A constellation, see Crater (constellation).
- A Greek vessel used to mix wine and water (the original meaning): see Krater.
