CompuMentor, founded in 1987, is one of the leading providers of technology assistance to non-profit organizations in the United States. Based in San Francisco, CompuMentor offers a wide range of programs and services that help nonprofits and schools use technology to achieve their missions. CompuMentor is the home of TechSoup.org, the technology website for the nonprofit sector and TechSoup Stock, the technology product philanthropy service just for nonprofits.

History
CompuMentor was born in 1987 after current president Daniel Ben-Horin discovered The Well, the first community on the web. He proposed "to help those who needed it, and they accepted." Officially called The CompuMentor Project, it began with 2,500 dollars and volunteers of the highest quality. Today, CompuMentor has over 80 employees, an annual budget of over $9 million, and assists tens of thousands of non-profits in the United States and throughout the global community.
TechCommons
CompuMentor recently changed the name of its hands-on technology assistance program from Consulting Services to TechCommons. Through TechCommons, CompuMentor will continue to help Bay Area nonprofit organizations find the technology assistance they need. In addition, TechCommons will support nonprofit technology assistance providers (NTAPs) by developing tools and resources to aid their work. Through a series of distinct, collaborative projects, TechCommons will develop systemic solutions to pressing nonprofit technology issues and, using the publishing power of TechSoup and the distribution channel of TechSoup Stock make those solutions available to nonprofits and technology service providers world-wide.
TechSoup.org
TechSoup.org, the nonprofit technology website created by CompuMentor, empowers nonprofits to succeed in the Digital Age by providing timely and targeted technology information and resources. TechSoup provides other nonprofits with the tech know-how they need to more efficiently and effectively achieve their missions. TechSoup's weekly e-newsletter, TechSoup…By the Cup, is distributed to more than 30,000 subscribers.

TechSoup Stock
TechSoup Stock is the technology product philanthropy service just for nonprofits. Launched in January 2002 (as DiscounTech), this service is a unique collaboration with corporate and nonprofit technology providers. TechSoup Stock is the exclusive U.S. distributor of Microsoft product donations, and helps to connect nonprofits and libraries to over 240 products from 25 donating partners.
