Collinsville is a town located in Grayson County, Texas. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 1,235.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.9 km² (0.7 mi²). 1.9 km² (0.7 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,235 people, 469 households, and 346 families residing in the town. The population density is 662.3/km² (1,720.6/mi²). There are 507 housing units at an average density of 271.9/km² (706.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 93.60% White, 0.32% African American, 0.40% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 4.37% from other races, and 1.30% from two or more races. 5.59% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 469 households out of which 36.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.9% are married couples living together, 10.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.2% are non-families. 23.9% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.57 and the average family size is 3.03.

In the town the population is spread out with 26.8% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 27.7% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 17.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 93.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.6 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $32,833, and the median income for a family is $41,000. Males have a median income of $27,763 versus $22,232 for females. The per capita income for the town is $15,123. 10.2% of the population and 8.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 13.9% of those under the age of 18 and 10.4% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

Constructions

The Salem Radio Properties Tower belongs to world's tallest constructions. Another very high guyed mast is the AMFM Tower Collinsville.
