Cochiti (Eastern Keresan Kotyity) is a census-designated place located in Sandoval County, New Mexico. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 507.
Geography
Cochiti is located at 35°36'32" North, 106°21'1" West (35.608876, -106.350226)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.1 km² (1.2 mi²). 3.1 km² (1.2 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 507 people, 143 households, and 116 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 164.5/km² (425.9/mi²). There are 176 housing units at an average density of 57.1/km² (147.9/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 95.27% Native American, 2.37% White, 0.59% from other races, and 1.78% from two or more races. 3.16% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 143 households out of which 31.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.0% are married couples living together, 21.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 18.2% are non-families. 18.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 3.55 and the average family size is 3.99.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 29.2% under the age of 18, 11.0% from 18 to 24, 25.2% from 25 to 44, 18.9% from 45 to 64, and 15.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 32 years. For every 100 females there are 84.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 83.2 males.
