Coalton is a village located in Montgomery County, Illinois. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 307.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.3 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

There are 132 housing units at an average density of 98.0/km² (254.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 97.07% White, 0.00% African American, 0.33% Native American, 0.65% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.33% from other races, and 1.63% from two or more races. 0.98% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
