Cleveland, New York

Cleveland is a village located in Oswego County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 758. It is named after Cleveland, England.

The Village of Cleveland is in the southeast corner of the Town of Constantia on Route 49.

History

The Village of Cleveland was incorporated in 1857. Much of the 19th Century industry was based on glass manufacturing.

Geography

The village is on the north shore of Oneida Lake and the border of Oneida County, New York.

Cleveland is located at 43°14'11" North, 75°52'58" West (43.236502, -75.882705)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 3.2 km² (1.2 mi²). 2.9 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 8.13% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 758 people, 277 households, and 198 families residing in the village. The population density is 259.0/km² (673.5/mi²). There are 310 housing units at an average density of 105.9/km² (275.4/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 99.34% White, 0.13% African American, 0.13% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.26% from other races, and 0.13% from two or more races. 0.26% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 277 households out of which 38.3% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.3% are married couples living together, 10.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.5% are non-families. 22.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 5.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.74 and the average family size is 3.20.

In the village the population is spread out with 30.2% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 31.9% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 9.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 112.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 108.3 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $32,313, and the median income for a family is $42,250. Males have a median income of $30,739 versus $21,985 for females. The per capita income for the village is $15,366. 12.4% of the population and 9.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 14.3% of those under the age of 18 and 5.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
